Ducks head to Phoenix for key matchup

Hockey Betting Lines

03/19/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Anaheim Ducks continue their battle for a postseason spot tonight, as they take on the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena.

The Ducks are currently 12th overall in the Western Conference with 72 points, three back of eight-seeded Edmonton. Anaheim hasn't helped its cause as of late, going 2-3-1 over its last six games.

However, both of those wins have come in the Ducks' last three contests. The club hosted Nashville last night and earned a 4-3 overtime decision thanks to a milestone goal out of Teemu Selanne.

Selanne scored 34 seconds into OT for the 1,200th point of his career. The 1988 first-round pick has 574 goals and 626 assists in his career and became the 45th player and just the sixth non-North American skater to reach the 1,200-point mark.

Sixty-six of Selanne's career points have come versus the Phoenix franchise, as he has posted 32 goals and 34 assists in 60 games against them.

Bobby Ryan had a goal and an assist and Corey Perry and Andrew Ebbett each scored in Anaheim's victory. Jean-Sebastian Giguere made 21 saves to earn the victory.

The Ducks, who are 16-15-3 on the road this year, will try to extend their recent success over the Coyotes as they aim to move up the standings. Anaheim has won two straight and four of its past five games against its Pacific Division rivals, including a 7-3 victory on January 27 in the most recent meeting at Jobing.com Arena.

Perry scored twice in that contest, while Ryan also scored.

Shane Doan netted two of Phoenix's three goals in that loss, as he has carried the Coyotes' offense this season. Doan is tops on the club with 26 goals, 35 assists and 61 points.

Doan once again keyed his team to a victory on Tuesday, scoring a power-play goal with 27 seconds left in the game to give Phoenix a 4-3 win over San Jose. The All-Star also had three assists on the night for a season-high four points.

The triumph snapped Phoenix's five-game losing streak and marked the first time since February 21 that the club scored more than two goals in a single game. The Coyotes were outscored 18-7 over their skid.

Kyle Turris had the best game of his young career in Tuesday's triumph, posting a career-best four points off two goals and a pair of assists. Dmitri Kalinin added a goal and an assist, while Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 33 shots for the win.

The Coyotes won for just the second time in their last 10 home games and are 18-14-2 as the host. They play the third game of a four-game homestand tonight, a residency that wraps up on Saturday versus Vancouver.

Phoenix will then visit Anaheim on Sunday, while the Ducks are off after tonight until that contest.

Super Bowl XLIII Betting - Super Bowl 2009

Super Bowl 2009, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.

MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.

Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.

Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.

After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.

Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.

Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.

If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.

Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
